Public data for all

All public data should be made available to the public for free, as long as they don't threaten national security or the privacy of the citizens. Making public data available will stimulate innovation and strengthen democracy. This is one of the recommendations from a recent report from the Norwegian Board of Technology.

Historic citizen consultation on climate issues

On September 26, 2009, World Wide Views on Global Warming (WWViews) organized the first-ever, globe-encompassing democratic deliberation in world history. WWViews enabled roughly 4,400 citizens from 38 countries all over the world to define and communicate their positions on issues central to the UN Climate Change negotiations (COP15), which take place in Copenhagen from December 7 – 18, 2009.

Climate change in the classroom

The role play Climate change in the classroom, successfully launched October 12th, provides Norwegian pupils the opportunity to solve climate issues in their own way – in the classroom. All high school junior and seniors across the country will now have the possibility to hand their climate advices over to The Norwegian Minister of the Environment Erik Solheim.
 

Recommendations from the Norwegian citizen consultation on climate

After a whole day of discussions on climate, 100 norwegian men and women made their own recommendations that were handed over to the Minister of Environment and International Development Erik Solheim on Wednesday 1st of October.
 

Businesses asked to declare use of nanomaterials

The Norwegian Pollution Control Authority (SFT) establishes a scheme for Norwegian businesses to report their use of nanomaterials in chemical products. This is in line with recommendations from the Norwegian Board of Technology.
